Born and raised on Kauaʻi, I've spent my entire adult life working in landscaping, conservation, and horticulture. That experience has given me a deep understanding of what makes our island environment so unique.

Life here comes with landscape challenges and opportunities that are often the opposite of what people experience elsewhere. We contend with some of the highest rainfall in the world, steep terrain and erosion, constant salt and moisture in the air, no true winter to naturally reduce pests, and a year-round growing season that weeds thrive in. At the same time, our incredile climate can support a variety of beautiful plant life, year round.

For those of us who call Kauaʻi home, it's paradise. But creating a landscape that stays healthy, beautiful, and functional requires more than choosing the right plants—it takes thoughtful planning from the very beginning. Every decision should consider not only how a space will look when the project is complete, but how it will mature and perform for years to come.
